剧集根据吴林的小说《金花铁掌》改编，从战马为切入口，讲述了抗日战争时期，赵家马掌铺少爷赵大旗（吴樾饰）在机缘巧合之下参加了新四军并一路成长，与吴州国小老师孙佳慧（余心恬饰）相识相恋，历经生死劫难一路并肩战斗的故事。。Djata is a care-free 12-year-old growing up in the dystopian Homeland. When he finds out that his father Peter has been imprisoned by the authorities and he and his mother Hannah are labeled traitors, Djata vows he will not rest until he sees his father again.。
