Joe系列动画续83年的A Real American Hero后，于1984年推出的5集单元的TV动画"The Revenge of Cobra". （眼镜蛇复仇记）2009年的特种部队电影版的故事就是由此改编而来。解放初期，我国北方某地。退伍军人张国宝回到家乡杜家庄参加农业生产，父亲张老五因循守旧，由于原先没种过棉花，对于上级号召种良棉缺乏信心，国宝的未婚妻拉英也不知所措。地主杜天成、二流子刘老二趁机妖言惑众，从中作梗。而此时，果树突发的虫害更让缺少文化的乡亲们不知如何是好。国宝找到村长大牛、积极分子杨连升协商，找来良棉推广队，准备播种。愚昧的张老五见虫害日益严重，竞用迷信方法驱灾。国宝带头用科学方法治虫害，终于使大家从落后的生产方式中解放出来......。
