It is based on the 1885 book The Gypsy Baron by Mór Jókai, about the romance between a poor Hungarian aristocrat and a mysterious Roma-looking Turkish girl in the 18th century. Music from Johann Strauss II's operetta The Gypsy Baron, based on the same novel, is used for the film's soundtrack.。本作の主人公は、人間の生態を調査するために土星からやってきた宇宙人。彼は地球の家族、真田家の次男・日出男として親代わりの長男・夢二、しっかり者の長女・想乃、頼りない三男・詩文と暮らしていた。家族になりすまして23年が経ち、地球を離れる日が近づく日出男は、最後の３日間で人間としてやり残したことに奮闘する。。
